Tomato’s English is dedicated to advance the value of innovation in English as a second language learning and teaching.
The English language is a living language with a vital formative energy fueled by ever more people living and thinking in it: new words are continually being coined for new ideas and new concepts in human mind, while some forms are becoming extinct and obsolete over the years. To be knowledgeable in today’s information era where more than 80% stored information is in English, it is thus necessary to master today’s English language as we now find it.
For most ESL learners, ESL acquisition is in part a process of understanding native English speakers and their speech. It is thus not surprising that watching English-language movies has long been recognized as a great way to learn English. In recognition of the advantages, implications, and challenges in movie-assisted ESL learning and teaching (a.k.a. M-ELT), Tomato's English is publishing a series of books providing studies of foundational topics and practical guidance in M-ELT. The series is aimed primarily at ESL learners, ESL teachers, and academics in related fields.
